What is proposed
A reference to the expiry on 31 December 2021 of the limited tax treaty on promoting economic relations will be added to the implementation act, and the section that previously prevented the application of the Act on the Taxation of Controlled Foreign Companies to income received from the area will be repealed.
What it means
The change affects taxpayers with ties to the former Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius). Special reliefs based on the tax treaty will no longer apply to them from 1 January 2022, but the agreement on the exchange of tax information will remain in force.
