What is proposed
The rate of waste tax will be increased by approximately 27 per cent from 55 euros to 70 euros per tonne of waste. In addition, the provision laying down a conditional tax exemption for de-inking sludge from recovered paper will be repealed from the act.
What it means
The change will enter into force on 1 January 2016 and is estimated to increase state tax revenue by approximately 5 million euros on an annual basis. The increase will raise waste treatment costs, which will be passed on to waste producers, particularly companies in the manufacturing and construction sectors as well as households.
