Voters will be able to receive notification of their right to vote solely electronically instead of by traditional postal mail. At the same time, the candidate nomination timetable for the 2019 European Parliament elections will be aligned with the parliamentary elections.

Finland approves updated EU rules concerning European Parliament elections. The reform will not require changes to Finland's national electoral arrangements.

Reforming party subsidies and election funding oversight
Party subsidies may also be granted to small parties that receive at least 2 per cent of the vote, and oversight of the subsidies will be transferred to the National Audit Office of Finland. At the same time, transparency in election funding will be increased in presidential and European Parliament elections.
