Introducing an EU emergency travel document
The new act will introduce a more secure emergency travel document that is uniform across all EU countries. The document will be issued for a single journey home to an EU citizen or their family member whose passport has been lost or stolen in a country outside the EU.

Facilitating employment for diplomats' family members
Family members of staff at the diplomatic missions of Finland, South Africa and India will be able to engage in gainful employment in their host country without giving up their diplomatic status. A work permit will be granted without a labour market test, and employment will be subject to the host country's laws as well as its tax and social security system.

Streamlining consular and notarial services
Notarial services of Finnish missions could be outsourced to external service providers, and their provision within missions will be made more flexible. At the same time, authorities will discontinue separate estate services, and the service for obtaining documents from abroad will be restricted.

Facilitating employment for diplomats' families
Family members of diplomats will be enabled to engage in gainful employment in the host country without losing their diplomatic status. The arrangement applies reciprocally to Finland as well as Argentina, Brazil, Israel, Serbia and Vietnam.
