    Enhancing aviation safety and sobriety testing

    Airlines and employers in the sector will be granted the right to require aircraft crew and ground handling personnel to undergo breath tests to ensure their fitness for work. In addition, Traficom (the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency) will be able to notify employers directly if the licence or medical certificate of a pilot or other key person is in the process of being revoked for safety reasons.

    Updating aviation rules and drone surveillance

    Aviation legislation will be updated to align with European Union regulations, and the powers of authorities and airports will be clarified. Penalties will be introduced for safety infringements involving drones, or unmanned aircraft, and the detection of unauthorised drones at airports will be facilitated.
