Finnish authorities will be able to demand electronic criminal evidence directly from service providers operating in another EU country. Correspondingly, authorities in other EU countries will also be able to request data from services operating in Finland.

Decisions on the freezing and confiscation of assets obtained through crime will be enforced more directly and uniformly across EU countries. At the same time, crime victims' opportunities to obtain confiscated property or compensation from assets located in another EU country will be improved.

Enhancing evidence gathering across EU countries
The gathering of evidence for criminal investigations between EU countries will be streamlined through the introduction of a common European Investigation Order. The new procedure speeds up cross-border legal assistance and makes it more binding on authorities than before.
