Supervision of the EU deforestation regulation
A supervision and penalty system for the EU Deforestation Regulation will be introduced in Finland to prevent products causing deforestation from entering the market or being exported. Afforestation aid for wasteland will be reintroduced for 2027–2029 to increase forest area and carbon sinks. Private landowners will be able to apply for state aid to plant forest on, for example, fields taken out of cultivation or former peat extraction sites.
