Finland will join EUCARIS, the European Vehicle and Driving Licence Information System. Authorities will receive more comprehensive and real-time data on vehicles and driving entitlements in other countries.

Streamlining vehicle registration and driving licences
Electronic vehicle registration will be made easier by allowing transactions on behalf of another person under authorisation, and passport photographs already held in the police register can be used for driving licences. At the same time, information exchange between authorities will be enhanced, and the separate non-disclosure for personal safety in the vehicle register will be abolished.

Updating EU traffic offence data exchange
References in Finnish legislation to the new directive on the exchange of traffic offence data between EU member states will be updated. At the same time, the Finnish Transport Safety Agency will be designated as the official national contact point for data exchange.
