    The processing of personal data by biobanks will be brought into line with the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. Consent will still be required to provide a sample, but the processing of data in a biobank will be based on the public interest.

    Legislation on medical research will be updated to align with the health and social services reform, transferring the duties of hospital districts to wellbeing services counties and the HUS Group.
