    Selling one's own home will no longer require the consent of a former spouse if more than ten years have passed since divorce or the death of the spouse. Clarifications will be made to the act so that this rule and its transitional period are applied correctly.

    Penalties for firearms offences and the possession of bladed weapons would be tightened substantially, and carrying an unlicensed firearm in a public place would generally result in an unconditional prison sentence. In addition, transferring or handling a firearm for the purpose of committing a serious offence would be criminalised as a separate offence.

    Reforming interest subsidies for affordable housing

    The terms and repayment schedule of interest-subsidised loans for state-subsidised rental and right-of-occupancy dwellings will be reformed to encourage the construction of more affordable housing, particularly in growth centres. At the same time, loan amortisation will be accelerated and the financing of housing repairs will be clarified.
