Protection for craft and industrial products
An authority system will be established in Finland for the protection of geographical indications for craft and industrial products, such as textiles, ceramics and jewellery. The system will allow manufacturers to protect the names of their regional products against misuse and imitation across the EU.

Tighter footwear and clothing label supervision
Supervision of material labelling on footwear and textile products will be enhanced under a new act. Companies may be issued an administrative penalty fee for missing or incorrect product labelling.

Centralising product market surveillance in Tukes
Liaison and advisory duties regarding product market surveillance, as well as the surveillance of textile and footwear labelling, will be centralised in Tukes (the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency). The change implements EU regulation and enhances cooperation between authorities.

Reforming seed sector regulation and supervision
A new Seed Act will replace the previous Seed Trade Act and update the rules on seed quality, certification and trade. Authorities will gain new means to supervise the seed trade and intervene in non-compliant activities, including online.

Easing administrative procedures in nature conservation
The obligation to mark nature conservation areas in the terrain will be eased, and separate decisions on flying squirrels issued by the ELY Centres (Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment) will be discontinued. The objective is to dismantle administrative burdens and target environmental authority resources more effectively.
