Ending wasteland afforestation subsidies
Applications for wasteland afforestation subsidies will close at the end of 2023, and no new subsidies will be granted after June 2024. However, the disbursement of previously granted subsidies and afforestation obligations will be secured until 2038.

Temporary support for afforesting wastelands
State aid will be paid to private landowners for afforesting wasteland areas outside agricultural use. The aim is to increase Finland's forest area and strengthen carbon sinks without harming biodiversity.
