Right of appeal against involuntary medication
A patient in involuntary psychiatric care will be able to appeal to the administrative court against medical treatment prescribed for them. An official administrative decision must be issued on medical treatment if it cannot be provided in mutual understanding with the patient or if the patient requests a decision.

Reforming communicable disease control and compensation
Legislation on the prevention and control of communicable diseases will be reformed to meet modern epidemic threats and international obligations. At the same time, decision-making on control measures will be streamlined and compensation paid to those falling ill will be clarified.

Clarifying continuation of forensic psychiatric care
The act lays down clear rules for continuing involuntary care for forensic psychiatric patients in situations where the six-month time limit for a decision has exceptionally expired. THL (the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare) will decide on continuing or terminating care in such delay situations.
