The use of radioactive sealed sources over 40 years old could be extended under an exemption permit if their use remains safe and no replacement equipment is available. The change would prevent disruptions to industrial and healthcare operations due to equipment shortages or final disposal problems.

Transferring radiation doctor approvals to Valvira
The approval and registration of doctors examining the health of workers most exposed to radiation will be transferred from the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) to Valvira (the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health). At the same time, information on doctors' qualifications will be compiled in the public register of healthcare professionals.
