Clarifying elite sports and sports research
Objectives on sustainable development and measures to promote elite sports and health-enhancing physical activity will be added to the Sports Act. At the same time, the Academy of Finland will be able to act as a discretionary government grant authority for sports science research grants.

Reforming the Academy of Finland's bodies
The position of the Academy of Finland as an expert organisation in science will be strengthened, and the working methods of its research councils will be reformed. The terms of office of council members will be limited to a single three-year term to ensure that positions of trust attract active researchers.
