Oral evidence presented in district courts will begin to be recorded on video, which can be utilised directly on appeal without rehearing witnesses. At the same time, deadlines for submitting electronic documents to courts will be clarified.

Expanding remote connections in court proceedings
Courts will be able to hold hearings entirely via remote connections, and judges will also be able to participate in hearings remotely. In addition, hearing parties, witnesses and experts via remote connection will be made easier and more flexible.

Video recording oral evidence in courts
Oral evidence in the district courts will be recorded on video as well as audio. In appeals, the court of appeal and the Supreme Court will receive evidence from these recordings, meaning witnesses and injured parties will not have to appear in court again.

Streamlining court proceedings and remote connections
Court procedures will be streamlined to speed up trials and reduce costs. Participation in hearings via video link will be permitted more widely than before, and cases can be decided by smaller panels of judges.
