Training as a prison officer will become possible while working in a fixed-term post, and the job titles of prison directors will be reinstated. At the same time, clear rules will be laid down for procuring prison support services, such as substance abuse rehabilitation and transport, from private providers.

Extending exceptions for vocational skills demonstrations
Skills demonstrations in vocational education and training can be completed under exceptional arrangements until the end of July 2022 if the coronavirus epidemic prevents them from being carried out in authentic work situations. Students may then demonstrate their competence through compensatory practical tasks organised at educational institutions.
