Coordinating social security with the UK
An act will be passed in Finland on the application of the social security provisions of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and the United Kingdom. Under the act, the same national practices will apply to the social security of persons moving between the countries as apply between EU countries.

Residence right applications for British citizens
British citizens living in Finland and their family members must apply for a right of residence under the Brexit withdrawal agreement to continue living in the country. Based on the application, they will be issued a new residence permit card confirming their right to work and access social security.

Continuing national pensions in Britain
Payment of the national pension from Finland will continue for one year to pensioners living in the United Kingdom if the country leaves the EU without a withdrawal agreement. The change guarantees pensioners a transition period to adapt to the new situation.

Safeguarding residence rights for British citizens
The right of residence and employment of British citizens and their family members living in Finland will be safeguarded until the end of 2020 in the event of a no-deal Brexit. They will not immediately need to apply for a separate residence permit, and their entitlement to social security will continue without interruption.
