Allowing carbon dioxide export for storage
Carbon dioxide captured in Finland can in future be exported abroad for permanent storage in sub-seabed geological formations. The amendment removes a regulatory barrier to transporting carbon dioxide to countries that have suitable storage sites.

Large merchant ships will have to start collecting and reporting data on their fuel consumption. The data will be used to monitor greenhouse gas emissions from shipping internationally.

Raising shipowners' liability limits
The maximum liability amounts of shipowners and shipping companies in maritime accidents will be increased by 51 per cent. The change will improve the ability of injured parties and authorities to obtain full compensation for damage incurred and response costs.
