Salmonella compensation fund for pig farms
A salmonella compensation fund for the pig sector will be established in Finland to compensate farms for decontamination costs and financial losses caused by the disease. The fund will be financed mainly through annual fees collected from pig farmers and initial capital provided by the state.

Raising and grading soft drinks tax
The tax on soft drinks will rise and will be determined more precisely based on the sugar content of the beverage. Drinks containing high levels of sugar will see the largest price increases, but the tax on sugar-free drinks will also rise.

Improving pandemic preparedness
Finland will approve the updates to the World Health Organization's International Health Regulations, which improve preparedness for pandemics and other cross-border health threats. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health will be designated as the national coordinator for the implementation of the regulations.

Extending COVID-19 restrictions on restaurants
COVID-19 restrictions concerning restaurant opening hours, alcohol service and customer numbers will be extended until the end of February 2021. Restrictions can be targeted regionally according to the epidemic situation at any given time.

Correcting conditions for extended residence permits
Endangering public health will continue not to prevent obtaining an extended residence permit if the other requirements for the permit are met. A provision accidentally omitted in an earlier legislative amendment will be reinstated in the act.
