Permitting barnacle goose and cormorant hunting
Barnacle geese and cormorants could be shot directly by virtue of the law to prevent agricultural and fisheries damage and flight safety risks. Meat from shot birds could be used for personal consumption, but selling it would be prohibited.

Restricting logging during bird nesting season
Obligations and restrictions will be added to the Forest Act and the Nature Conservation Act to safeguard bird nesting in forestry. Timber harvesting will be prohibited during the bird nesting season in lush deciduous-dominated forests, spruce mires and riparian forests, and trees important to birds must be retained during logging.

Extending laboratory animal protection to foetuses
Legislation on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes will be extended to cover advanced foetuses of birds and reptiles. At the same time, the processing of animal test licences will be streamlined, and supervisory authorities will be granted the power to suspend activities temporarily if animal welfare is suspected to be compromised.

Strengthening control of invasive alien species
Raccoon dogs, American minks and certain other invasive alien species will be removed from the list of game animals to make trapping and destroying them easier than before. At the same time, the golden jackal, which may spread to Finland, will be added as a game species to manage its population.
