Compensating forest damage from private reserves
The state will compensate damage if forest damage spreads from a private nature reserve to a neighbouring commercial forest. The amendment corrects an error that had previously entered the act.

Extending forest damage compensation
The state may continue to compensate landowners for costs incurred in combating extensive forest damage and for tree growth losses until the end of 2027. In addition, exemptions from root rot control during felling can be made in exceptional situations, such as during shortages of control agents.

Enhancing forest damage prevention
The prevention of forest damage will be enhanced by expanding root rot control obligations and bringing forward the deadlines for removing timber from forests. At the same time, the responsibilities of timber buyers and forestry operators regarding timber storage and self-monitoring will be clarified.

State compensation for forest damage control
Landowners can be compensated from state funds for costs arising from measures to control extensive forest damage and for tree growth losses. The compensation scheme will be aligned with European Union state aid rules for a fixed period.
