Parental leave and parental allowances will be divided equally between both parents, and leave can be used flexibly until the child reaches the age of two. In addition, employees will be entitled to five days of annual carer's leave to care for a close relative.

Lump-sum compensation for family leave costs
Employers will be paid a lump-sum compensation of 2,500 euros when an employee taking maternity leave is paid a salary during the leave. The change will level out the costs arising from family leave and improve women's employment opportunities.

Extending social security to same-sex couples
The social security and parental daily allowance systems will be made gender-neutral. Same-sex married and cohabiting couples will be treated on the same grounds for benefits as opposite-sex couples.

Improving basic security and parental allowances
The minimum sickness and parental allowances, rehabilitation allowances and the guarantee pension will be increased, and the annual ceiling on medicine expenses will be lowered. At the same time, the rights of single parents, adoptive parents and multiple-birth families to parental allowances will be improved.
