Establishing the Finnish Food Authority
The Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira and the Agency for Rural Affairs (Mavi) will be merged into a new Finnish Food Authority at the beginning of 2019. At the same time, sectoral information management tasks from the National Land Survey of Finland and the supervision of the use of plant protection products from Tukes will be brought together into the new authority.

The Finnish Food Safety Authority will be granted the right to set temporary national maximum limits for pesticide residues in exceptional cases. This will enable the granting of emergency authorisations for plant protection products to safeguard crop cultivation.

Clarifying testing of pesticide equipment

In addition, the duration of national support for young farmers will be capped at a maximum of five years.
