Extending transport sector coronavirus exemptions
The validity period of maritime qualifications and pilotage licences will be exceptionally extended so that vessel traffic and security of supply are not interrupted due to the coronavirus epidemic. Ban on combining scrappage premiums
Only one scrappage premium may be granted per new purchase. Multiple scrappage premiums can no longer be combined for the purchase of the same passenger car, electric bicycle or public transport ticket.

Temporary car scrapping scheme
Scrapping an old car allows individuals to receive a premium of 1,000 to 2,000 euros from the state towards purchasing a new low-emission vehicle or a public transport ticket. Flexibility for transport licences and qualifications
Deadlines for transport licences, professional qualifications and medical certificates will be temporarily extended due to the emergency conditions caused by the coronavirus epidemic. The changes will protect risk groups, ease the burden on healthcare and ensure the continuity of transport.

Adding Siuntio and Tuusula to HSL
Siuntio and Tuusula will join the operating area of the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) joint municipal authority from the beginning of 2018. At the same time, the transitional period for licence requirements for rail transport safety duties will be extended and the rules on open ticket interfaces will be clarified.

Joint municipal public transport authorities will be established for the Kotka region and Meri-Lappi to be responsible for organising bus transport in their areas.
